Kaena was launched in 2001 to showcase Mikael’s deep passion for Grenache. Kaena is a boutique winery that sources from Tierra Alta Vineyard and Larner Vineyard in the Ballard Canyon AVA , primarily.  Mikael who is part Hawaiian and raised on the Oahu shores, uses a shortened version of his given name for the brand – Kaena – which means “potential for greatness”.

2014 Terroir Sauvignon blanc

Aromas of pungent herbaceous notes with green apple, passionfruit and intense minerality. A juice palate with fresh grassiness, capsicum and lime citrus notes. A punchy mouthfeel that is nicely weighed, slightly textural and lingers to a long dry finish.

2013 Terroir Pinot Noir

The nose exhibits aromas of strawberry, ripe cherry, dry spice, and a hint of earthy notes.  The palate shows concentrated red fruit with underlining savoury flavours.  The tannins are fine but persistent in the palate, finishing with an integrated oak, and great length.

Aromas of tropical island fruits, entwined with melon, guava, peach and passion fruit.  Make this lively fresh and easy drinking atypical style of Sauvignon Blanc from grapes grown in Marlborough. Enjoy chilled with or without food.

2014 Terroir² Pinot Noir

The nose shows aromas of Raspberry, Ripe cherry and Plum with an underlay of dry spice, tobacco and earthy notes. Concentrated dark fruit flavours fade to savoury notes on this generous palate, complemented by soft light oak. This Pinot Noir has fine tannins which contribute to a smooth wine with good palate weight and a long finish.
